Perri Jaye 2021 Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley
Vintage
The 2021 vintage was a welcome relief after the previous year, marked with our fruit wrecked by smoke in the Russian River Valley. It marked our third year of drought, starting with the driest winter in 127 years—a cold beginning that quickly transitioned to a warm, fast-paced finish. The dry spring brought the vines out of dormancy early, and the mild temperatures set a modest crop. We focused on water conservation and early irrigation. While the yields were low, the early harvest delivered grapes of outstanding quality.
Winemaking
1.46 tons were destemmed and fermented with native yeasts at Inman Family Wines Facility. 100% barrel aged in French Oak, 25% new French Oak for 19 months. Hand bottled & labeled on 4/22/23. Unfined and unfiltered. 80 cases produced.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes
The wine pours a translucent garnet in color, the 2021 PJV Pinot Noir from our estate vineyard offers lively fruit, exotic spice aromas and layered texture. Aromas of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, and pomegranate dominate the bouquet. The vibrant aromas expand and give way to red plum, black cherry & strawberry preserves with spicy layers of cardamom and earl grey. This Pinot Noir is elegantly structured with a medium body and silky tannins.
