Winemaking is an evolving art. Harvest is just one point in time – you can choose when to pick, cold soak, destem/ whole cluster ratio, extend maceration, press and more. You choose barrels for aging, decide how long to age, unfine/unfilter; then bottle and age prior to releasing the lovely new pieces of art. Over the last seven years, I have emersed myself in the process, continually learning & refining my craft. And my wines have evolved and continue to improve.
As we started preparing for our Spring Release of Perri’s Pinot Clubs we thought we would share this evolution with all of you. We are offering a vertical taste of the wines we still have available – those you have fallen in love with over the years.
We have been doing the tough work (wink) of updating the tasting notes for the four vintages of our estate wines, reflecting this current point in time for these beautifully aging Pinot Noirs.
We’re confident you’ll enjoy each one, with their distinctive characteristics described below.
2017 Pinot Noir (Sage & Wisdom)
Light cherry in color, this vintage opens with inviting aromas of sweet cardamom. On the palate, candied blackberry takes center stage, complemented by a rich, lingering spice note. Its embracing acidity creates an irresistible desire for “just one more sip.” Despite its delicate hue, this Pinot Noir surprises with remarkable complexity.
2018 Pinot Noir (Bold & Beautiful)
Delicate light cherry tones set the stage for an aromatic blend of orange peel and raspberry flowers. This vintage leans into its elegance with soft, savory tea-like tannins that envelop the senses. A refined balance carries through to the extended, graceful finish.
2019 Pinot Noir (Sleek & Sassy)
Deeper in color, this black cherry-hued vintage introduces a distinctive sassafras nose accented by fragrant lemon blossoms. A firm structure supports vibrant red cherry flavors, leading into a sophisticated Earl Grey tea finish. Subtle tannins contribute to a beautifully balanced, lingering impression.
2021 Pinot Noir (Young & Confident)
The brightest of the selection, this garnet-hued Pinot Noir bursts with fresh strawberry and delicate orange blossom aromas. Its rich, layered mouthfeel unfolds with bold black cherry flavors, while tantalizing sassafras spices add depth and intrigue, lingering luxuriously on the palate.
