We’re beyond excited to share that our 2021 Perri Jaye Pinot Noir just received our 4th DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition! 🎉 There were over fifty judges, representing various North American wine regions, evaluating over 5,500 wines from nearly 950+ wineries. What a tremendous honor to be acknowledged with a Double Gold medal amongst the many extraordinary Pinot Noir producers at our price point. Wow – leading with passion and dedication to our vineyard keeps paying off.
This achievement holds special meaning for me on a personal level. Before becoming a winemaker, I volunteered behind the scenes at this very competition while studying viticulture and winemaking at SRJC. I remember being in awe of the sheer scale of it all—thousands of wines, endless glasses, and the dedication required for the judging process. That experience was a turning point in my journey, making this award even more special.
Perri Jaye Pinots are evolving, and my knowledge base grows with every vintage. It is kind of like having a baby every year – preparing, nurturing, generating the best conditions for growth and health; creating a new wine each harvest, carefully watching and caring for your new creation with love and gentle hands; then letting it mature into its fullest expression. It’s a process. You think you’ve got it down, then something comes up to challenge you and keep you humble. Mother Nature is the real boss. Respect, passion, and dedication are everything.
The 2021 Pinot Noir is fantastic and will continue to flourish and change over the coming years. Only 80 cases were made. I hope you get a chance to enjoy a bottle.
Cheers.
