Perri Jaye 2019 Pinot Noir

Russian River Valley

  • Gold Medal: Sonoma County Harvest Fair

Vintage

Perri Jaye Pinot Noir is grown on our 2.6- acre estate — One Incredible Hectare — in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The vineyard is farmed by Perri & her hands touch every aspect of the wine-making process.

The vintage began with record-breaking precipitation in the months of February & March, refilling, and recharging groundwater. The excessive late winter and spring rainfall delayed budbreak and got the growing season off to a slow start. Cool and mild spring weather was followed by an unseasonable rainfall in early May 2019. The balance of the growing season and the end of the vintage was almost picture perfect.

Winemaking

The grapes were hand-picked on 9/14/19 in the early morning hours into small stacking lugs, ensuring extremely gentle handling and transport, and then destemmed. We transfer the whole berries into 1-ton bins to be cold soaked and fermented. The fruit was then pressed to tank to settle and racked into French oak barrels (25% new Rousseau) for a period of 15 months. The finished wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered on 2/27/21.

Winemaker’s Tasting Notes

Bright garnet in color, the 2019 PJV Pinot Noir from our estate vineyard offers flavors of bright cherry & pomegranate with spicy layers of cardamom and earl grey. A long and elegant finish.
